The Queen’s Critique: NailDrama Box – Winter Wonderland

The Queen’s Critique: NailDrama Box – Winter Wonderland

Hey there, suga! So I have to honest, last night I turned my heat on again. *hides head in shame. I’ve been trying to hold out but the house was so cold yesterday, I just could take it anymore. Of course Jason complained it was too hot after the heat had been on for like… 30 seconds but I told him to get over it. You see, I love late September/early October weather. Not hot, not too cold but just perfectly in between. However, if it were up to Jason it would Jan/Feb all year long. He loves the winter and snow and all that jazz.

Because of his love for for all things snow, I showed Jason the newest Nail Drama box he loved it and even gave me a few suggestions on the snowflakes themed mani I created using its contents. Let’s take a look 👀!

The Queen’s Critique: Cuticula – On To The Next Peel Off Base

I feel it’s only right that when you know of something amazing that will benefit others as much as it has benefitted you, it’s your solemn duty to let them know. If not, you’re no friend at all.

So friend, pull up a seat and let me tell you about Cuticula!

The Queen’s Critique: NailDrama Box – Fall Box

Ever been so annoyed, you just want to scream? Well today, that’s me!

Here I was, all ready and prepared for Fall, but noooooooo someone decided she wasn’t ready to descend cooler temperatures on the mid-Atlantic yet. And yes, that someone is Mother Nature.

Instead , he has decided to tease us with a few cool days and here I am getting my hoodies out and shopping online for a new pair of boots. You know the kind that you put on with a pair of jeans…. whoa m I kidding, I mean jeggings, and spend the day at the pumpkin patch. Yeah, those kinda boots! We are planning to attend our family’s annual pumpkin patch day on 10/21 which is a load of fun. There’s a corn maze, hayrides, games and fun for the entire family. In the evening, we gather around a campfire, the kids make s’mores, the ladies laughing, guys playing football, and there’s even fireworks!!! It’s what fall should be like, I totally live for the day. And what’s best about it, I am curdled up in a blanket drinking hot apple cider or hot chocolate. But I can’t do that with 85 degree temperatures. So I need everyone reading this post to say a little prayer for Fall to come back.

Regardless of what the temperature will be, my nails will be lookin’ fly because I have the Fall Nail Drama Box! Here are a few mani ideas that I played with, but be sure to check there IG for more ideas and looks!

The Queen’s Critique: NailDrama Box – Halloween Box

Trick or Treat,

Smell my feet,

Give me something good to eat!

Ahhhhh, it’s that time of the year again where every store you walk into has spider webs, witches hats and bats decorating aisles and aisles of candy shelves and costumes. It’s the time of year when evenings are cooler and it’s dark at 7pm. But I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love candy, so I go in and load up on mini snickers and fun size packs of skittles because lets face it, Starburst take too long to open. Then on Halloween night, I turn off all the lights and hunker down in the basement with a good movie and bowl of my faves.

Kidding…. kinda! I take the kids out for a couple of hours and then when they come in, I search their bags for what I want leaving them the pieces that will stay in the candy dish until Easter. I mean it’s only fair that I take payment for walking too. I mean really, the trick or treat thing isn’t easy or for the faint at heart.

While this year I won’t be dressed in costume, I will have an amazing mani to show off to the other moms. A lot of it will be with help from the October Nail Drama Box themed of Halloween.

This box has everything you need to make spooky, unique nail art. Let’s take a look at a few ideas I have in mind.

The Queens Critique: Lollipop Posse Lacquer – Foaming Bath Bar

The Queens Critique: Lollipop Posse Lacquer – Foaming Bath Bar

New month, new season, new products! It’s always exciting when an indie polish maker expands their brand to offer additional products to make  your shopping and buying experience even more enjoyable. Now, while you’re shopping for polish from Lollipop Posse Lacquer, you can also get your hands on their new Foaming Bath Bars.

I mean seriously, who doesn’t love a good soak in a hot bath after a long day. A good book, soft music playing in the background, your beverage of choice and a fragrant, moisturizing bath bar, yep, I’d say that’s the recipe for a refreshed, renewed spirit.

On Wed. 9/30, Lollipop Posse Lacquer released foaming bath bars in 4 amazing scents. They are simply the cutest and even before I opened the package, the fragrance permeated the room. Keep reading to find out more!

The Queen’s Critique: NailDrama Box – Steampunk

The Queen’s Critique: NailDrama Box – Steampunk

According to, Steampunk is defined as, ‘a genre of science fiction that has a historical setting and typically features steam-powered machinery rather than advanced technology,’ OR ‘a style of design and fashion that combines historical elements with anachronistic technological features inspired by science fiction.’

Now, I’m not really into sci-fi all that much so to really understand this months NailDrama Box, I had to really do some research. I used google to find images because upon opening the package I was like, “what the world?! What am I supposed to do with this?” I found that this genre is extremely popular and apparently I’ve been living under a rock.

The Queen’s Critique: le Nail Care

Whether you wear them long or short, round or stiletto, everyone wants gorgeous, healthy nails. The 1 extremely important key starts with taking care of your body from the inside out; drinking plenty of water and eating the right kind of foods. The other component to healthy nails is what you do to them on the outside….and that where Allison of le Polish can help!

The Queens Critique: It Girl Nail Art – Plate IG118

The Queens Critique: It Girl Nail Art – Plate IG118

Good Morning Sunshine! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. As for me, weeeeeeelllll….my plans at the last minute changed on Friday which effected my entire weekend. I did however get a lot accomplished! Saturday, my girls and I ran some errands including returning my daughters violin as she decided that she didn’t want to play anymore but instead focus only on chorus which warmed my heart as I too sung all throughout 4-12 grade. We also did a weeks worth of grocery shopping and didn’t end up with a cart full of snacks. YAY for me!! And I was finally able to RELAX and binge watch Grey’s Anatomy as if I had never seen it before….lol, it’s only like one of my favorite shows. It was an amazing weekend of nothing. My son’s basketball team went 1-2 in their tournament but I hear they played their hearts out and had fun which is all I ask for.

So here we are back for another amazing week of reviews and today I have a doozy. Today, I have the newest plate from It Girl Nail Art, IG118. This plate highlights multiple images and symbols representing LGBTQ, political activism and marginalized groups.

I do want to point out that I’m still learning reverse stamping, so while the Autism Awareness mani didn’t turn out as perfectly as I wanted it to, that was not fault of the plate, it was complete user error. I was able to get the 4 full nail images done but wanted to do my research regarding the flags to ensure that color placement is done correctly. If you have any suggestions, please leave them in the comments.

**All swatches are done using Commitment Issue Peel-off Base Coat by Vapid and Tonic Topper by Tonic (shiny) and Matte Me topcoat by Jior Couture (matte). Swatch photos are taken using artificial lights.**

Overall Thoughts

Application: plate it etched very well. No issues with pick up using soft, squishy stamper

Size: plate – 12cm x 6cm

Price: $13.50

Availability: current

Overall: I love this plate. I love the images and how easy is it to work with. I love how there are single images to use with full nail images and that you reverse stamp or leadlight with them. I can definitely see myself using this plate a lot more as I have a ton of manis planned in my head once I do my research so be on the look on my IG in the upcoming weeks.

Don’t forget to click the YouTube link below to check out these swatches on my new YouTube channel. Thanks for tuning in!

The Queens Critique: It Girl Nail Art Stamping Plates & Cuticle Oil

The Queens Critique: It Girl Nail Art Stamping Plates & Cuticle Oil

Good Morning and happy Thursday! If you love, love and themed nail art, then by now, I’m sure you’ve contemplated a Valentine’s Day mani….or 2, I know I have. I searched for the perfect roses and hearts and came up short until I was sent 2 of the newest plates from Nicole at It Girl Nail Art. These plates have so many possibilities and I couldn’t wait to use them and show them off.

**Denotes the items I received to review

Stamping Plates

**IG115 is a Valentine’s plate with 8 full-nail images and 9 smaller images (similar layout to IG113 and IG114, the Christmas and Hanukkah plates).

**IG306 is a mini plate with two full-nail lace images, and one little lace trim border image.

-IG202 is a gallery plate with a mix of sacred geometry images–a few of which can be used as full-nail images or as a partial.

-IG305 is a mini plate with an infinity-style floral image with some hearts mixed in.

Cuticle Oil

If you haven’t found a cuticle oil that you love both the formula and fragrance, I beg you to try It Girl. In a previous post, I raved about the Lemon Sweet Tea scent and now Nicole has released some new fragrances.

**Hot Chocolate: Creamy and sweet with rich cocoa, topped with lightly toasted marshmallow.

**Caramel Macchiato: Rich espresso and creamy steamed milk with buttery caramel.

-London Fog Tea: The barista’s secret weapon for the tea-lover, a London Fog is earl gray, vanilla syrup, and steamed milk.

-Mulled Wine: Velvety red wine meets orange peel and traditional mulling spices.

-Chamomile Honey: Prized for its relaxing properties, chamomile has been used for centuries to ease stress and insomnia.

-Bourbon Hot Toddy: Before cold medicine, there was a good old hot toddy for the sniffles. With bourbon, bright citrus, and spices.

Overall Thoughts

Measurements: Full Size Plate – 12cm x 6cm and image area of 2.25cm. Mini Plates – 6cm lx 4cm and 3.2 x 3.2 cm / 2.5 x 2.5 (respectively). The narrow lace trim image measuring 4mm x 2.5cm.

Availability: Current

Price: Plates – $14.50 full size & $4.50 mini. Cuticle oil – $3 for 2ml brush pen and $6 for 10ml roller bottle.

Please note, some plates may be better or worse choices for beginners. For instance, some of the very fine lines like the roses on IG115 can be tricky to pick up especially if someone does not have a variety of stampers and polish to try. I used a sticky, marshmallow stamper with Mundo de Unas (MdU) black and the image picked up without issue. As you can see the image was very light but….I liked that it gave a delicate feel to the mani. Be sure to look for the details in the listing in the shop.

Overall: No issues to report. I used MdU stamping polishes and various stampers for all the manis shown. I love all of the different hearts, love lettering and roses, they are just gorgeous. I also love the single images in the middle that compliment the larger images. The lace is amazing and the etching on both plates is perfect. The image size is perfect for those with longer nails like me.

Now, I know that not everyone is super into Valentine’s Day, and that’s totally fine. But since I’m celebrating my 3 year wedding anniversary, the day holds an extra special meaning to me. Are you a Valentine’s Day kinda person? What do you think of these plates? Let me know in the comments.
