Swatch & Review: Polish Pickup May Release – Blush Lacquers and Alter Ego

***PRESS (PR) SAMPLE NOTICE ***

Greetings and happyyyyyy…Wednesday, no Thursday. Wait, it’s Thursday. Right? Yes, yes it is. My brain is fried and I tip my hat to all my fellow bloggers that post daily. I don’t know how you do it. Swatching, editing, writing, posting…all while not losing your mind, BRAVO!!

That said, I feared this week would drag on because well…you, know….POLISH CON is this SATURDAY and yours truly will be in attendance. Hubby and I will be heading to NY for Polish Con to do 2 very important things: #1) buy and #2) meet. Yep, buy ALL the polish and meet their infamous makers and fellow swatchers, bloggers and influencers. One of the featured makers on todays post will be at Polish Con and I am super-duper excited to meet Victoria Greathouse of Blush Lacquers, but we’ll get into that in a sec.

I digress…as usual, but I’m back on track. What was I saying? Oh yes, todays post is about the May release for Polish Pickup. Last month I had the opportunity to swatch one the inaugural polishes for this pop up meets collaboration box style of polish buying. If you didn’t get a chance to read that post, you need to. Why? Because it gives you all the info to be apart of the action and how to submit, vote and shop. Read it here!

May’s theme is SCIENCE!!! One of the dreaded subjects I hated in school but once  saw these polishes, I instantly had a change of heart. Let’s take a look.

**All swatches are done using Commitment Issue Peel-off Base Coat by Vapid, QDTC by 2-Bit (shiny) and Matte Me topcoat by Jior Couture (matte). Swatch photos are taken using artificial lights.**

Blush Lacquer

“Electric Bloom” – A neon magenta pink with a blue shimmer and holographic flakies

Notes from the maker, “About the inspiration picture: This flower was photographed using “ultraviolet-induced visible fluorescence”, which is a process that brings out the glowing fluoresce in plant matter through the use of high-intensity UV lights. Sounds like science to me! lol ;)”

Overall Thoughts

Formula / Application: I ❤ love the formula on this polish. 3 thin coats dried quickly even before applying TC.

Opacity: 3 easy coats

Price: $11.75

Overall: Well it’s PINK, so there’s that. If you know anything about me, you know that pink is my favorite color and this one is just magically the way that the blue shimmer glows in this polish. BTW, I LOOOOOOVE the wide brush Victoria uses, makes application easy if you have wide nail beds.

Alter Ego

“Venus” is a coppery red/orange with gold shimmer and micro flakies

Notes from the maker, “Scientifically speaking, copper is a metal alloy that falls under materials science. It is one of the few metallics that is not gray or silver; freshly mined it is orangish-reddish and acquires a more pronounced reddish tarnish when first exposed to the air. Now that we have that textbook definition out of the way, here is the real meaning of copper. Copper is one of the Seven Noble Metals of the Ancients and it is ruled by Venus! Venus is the goddess of love, beauty, art, balance, harmony and peace. Copper combines easily with other metals and transfers warmth and electricity. When yous create your amulets and cast your spells use copper to promote love, sensuality, positive relationships of all kinds, negotiations and above all, peace”

Overall Thoughts

Formula / Application: no issues to report. Great formula and easy to work with.

Opacity: 3 easy coats

Price: $7

Overall: there’s something about this color I really love and I can’t quite put my finger on it. The coppery shade is very…..powerful and regal. The gold shimmer is so present and really stands up nicely in the copper shade

  1. I’m so excited for the polishes this time around, so many pretties!! I love your stamping over the pink, at first glance it looked like a simplified leopard print but then I realized it was kisses! So it is leopard kisses to me! 🙂
