Swatch & Review: Project Aloha – A Tonic Custom for Crystal’s Charity Lacquers

Swatch & Review: Project Aloha – A Tonic Custom for Crystal’s Charity Lacquers

Good morning polish people!! Today I have a very special S&R. Today I have the Tonic custom for Crystal’s Charity Lacquers FB Group. This polish is benefiting The Hawaiian Humane Society.

Here are a few words from Crystal, creator of the FB group.

“I’ll give you a bit of the backstory on my group, in case you aren’t familiar with us. I’ve been involved in fundraising for a number of years now, and always struggled to raise funds. In April 2015, I decided to take a new approach and started asking some of my favourite brands if they would be willing to create custom polishes for me to give away in a raffle style draw. After getting a number of brands on board, we launched our first campaign, a double giveaway benefiting the SPCA and the Terry Fox Foundation for cancer research. That first campaign wrapped up in September 2015 and was more successful that I ever could have dreamed. In order to keep momentum going between giveaways, we introduced our limited edition collaboration sales. That first sale was for the Hawaiian Humane Society so we’ve come a bit full circle with this sale.”
“The Hawaiian Humane Society is a cause very close to my heart. I am a huge animal lover, so helping animals is something I always strive to do. During a trip to Oahu in March 2015, the search for a larger sized geocache brought me to the Hawaiian Humane Society grounds. The geocache owner had received permission to hide the geocache in the middle of the shelter grounds, and upon first arrival, I was stunned by the well thought out shelter and their beautiful grounds. We found the cache and then I couldn’t resist saying hello to the animals. The shelter workers were friendly and offered us treats to give to the animals and told us that we could sign a dog out to walk around or play in one of the play areas. This was like no shelter I’d been to before. You could feel the love and see how the shelter was built with the animals happiness in mind. We signed out a sweet pup named Spot and took him for a run in the play area. Once he was tired, we snuggled on a bench and fed him some treats. And then there was Lily. This girl stole my heart and cemented my love for this shelter. Lily was an amazing dog who came in as a stray. She had endless energy and even knew some tricks. When you offered her a treat, she would sit up on her hind legs and put her front paws together like she was praying. She was amazing! But she was a special girl, who needed a special human to give her the forever home she needed. She had been adopted and returned to the shelter already. As a Canadian, we often hear the horror stories of American kill shelters. After spending time with Lily, I nervously, and with tears in my eyes, approached one of the shelter staff and asked them about their policies. I was relieved to hear that the Hawaiian Humane Society does not put time limits on the animals to find their forever homes. This is something that is extremely important to me. I eventually pulled myself away from the animals and we left. But I’ve never forgotten Lily. It took a year and two failed adoptions before this beautiful, silly girl finally found her forever home and I am so grateful to the Hawaiian Humane Society for not giving up on her. Since that trip, I have supported the Hawaiian Humane Society through donations and gifts. We returned to the island in January, 2016 and visited once again with a large donation of food, toys and other supplies needed by the shelter. They were mid renovation during that visit and have recently completed a complete overhaul of the facilities. We have another trip booked for this April, and I am excited to make the donation from our Crystal’s Charity Lacquers March 2017 sale in person! The Hawaiian Humane Society is also Oahu’s only open admissions shelter. They are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for people to surrender their animals. They believe there must be a place where all animals are welcome. This means that they will also accept illegal animals with no questions asked and work to save them through relocation to the mainland. The shelter also offers fantastic, affordable programs to help curb the feral cat population through spaying and neutering. I could go on and on about the wonderful programs through the Hawaiian Humane Society as this has barely scratched the surface of all they do.”
“When it came time to name this beautiful polish for a cause, we wanted the name to reflect the cause. Project Aloha felt perfect for this polish. Aloha is commonly known to be an island greeting, but it also means love. And with this fundraiser, we aim to spread love and compassion to the animals of the Hawaiian Humane Society as they wait to find their perfect forever home.”

Also for this fundraiser, Joy from Joy Lacquer has created a beautiful polish as well named Mau Loa Ohana (Forever Family). Please be sure to check it out as well.

Polish Subscription Boxes

Hey y’all, happy Monday! I hope you all have an amazing weekend. These last couple of days have been a whirlwind of excitement. I definitely could have used a day off just to relax. But here we are, Monday morning and per the usual I’m lagging. I literally have a tell my boss I’ll be late due to traffic every Monday morning. Now you’re probably thinking, “what’s the big deal about that?” Well truth is…I’m a telecommuter…I WORK FROM HOME! But getting 3 kids out the door for school is no easy feat. I take my hat off to stay at home mothers.

Any who, my excitement started Friday with my live “relaunch” on my Facebook page. I had gone live before but decided against it psyching myself out of doing anymore because I thought the nail community was too saturated with vloggers. But after much consideration, I decided to give it another go and hush those voices telling me ‘no’. I decided to go the FB live route because I enjoy the live interaction from the viewers and let’s face it, editing is not my thing.

Saturday was a complete blur. I went to the store to pick a few things, a book signing/launch, the mall and dinner with hubby and the kids. Next thing I knew it was Sunday and we were up getting ready for church. After church back to the store to get groceries for the week, home for a quick lunch and then back out for my sons semiquarter finals play off game, which they won 40-28! Let’s go Cavs!!

Through all of this, I must’ve spaced out and forgot that I was blogger because I didn’t even have a post ready or in ‘draft’ for that matter. Thank goodness I have a notebook of ideas and topics I want to cover. So I pulled out my handy dandy notebook 📓 and tah-da, we have a post! As I’m sure you could tell from the title, this post is all about polish subscription boxes. Now this is different than the other Polish Box post in that these boxes are purchased and mailed on regularly scheduled basis.

Let’s take a look 👀!

Baroness X – Monthly Mythical Mysteries

Native War Paints – Monthly Mystery Box

Black Dahlia – Monthly Subscription

Pretty & Polished – Beauty Box

Glitterdaze – Daze of the Month Box

Level Up Lacquer – Multiplayer Monthly Box

If you didn’t get a chance to tune in live to my ‘Watermarbling with Neons’ video, you can check it out here. Be sure to set an alarm for every Friday, 7pm est/6pm cst for more live videos on my Facebook page. This week…stamping!!!

That’s it for us here at the Queendom! I hope you were able to find this info helpful. Catch ya later!

Swatch & Review: Rainbow Connection Tonic Exclusives

Swatch & Review: Rainbow Connection Tonic Exclusives

Happy Friday and thanks for joining me today. I made it through Wednesday and hubby and I got all our errands done. YAY!!! So, it’s been a pretty quite week here in the Moore household, it’s actually kinda scary. My sons regular season basketball season is over and they finished with a 12-6 overall record. Pretty soon, like next week, we should be starting the playoffs and then on to AAU for the spring/summer, that’s when the real fun begins. Travelling to different states to see my son compete in basketball tournaments and hanging out with out basketball families, I don’t know who’s more excite, him or me…lol. This week we only had to contend with our youngest and her gymnastics lessons. Our middle one is still doing chorus, band and gearing up for the spring season of Girls on the Run. So I’ll enjoy this short, but much needed reprieve. I love keeping my kids busy and active, but I also love my other almost 900 babies…my polish!!

Today, I have 2 exclusives created by Lindsey of Tonic polish for Rainbow Connection UK. In true Tonic fashion, this duo is ah-mazing. I don’t know how she continually puts out beautiful polish after beautiful polish. So let’s ‘cross the pond’ as they say to take a look.
