Swatch & Review: Pandora’s Box – January 2017
***PRESS (PR) SAMPLE NOTICE: This post contains polishes that were sent to me for free from the company/brand in exchange for an honest review. All opinions stated are my own and based on my experiences. For additional info regarding PR samples, click here ***

Hey y’all, welcome back and happy Wednesday! Today I have another collaboration box to share with you. Pandora’s Box was created by Angela Holbrook but this box is slightly different from other boxes you may be familiar with. This box not only includes 2 indie polishes, but also cosmetics, bath items and nail wraps and all for a reasonable price that we’ll get to later.

So whether your shopping for yourself or need to pick up an after holiday gift, Pandora’s Box has everything you’ll need…and MORE!

**All swatches are done using Commitment Issue Peel-off Base Coat by Vapid and Topped with Love by Love, Angeline (shiny) and Matte Me by Jior Couture (matte). Swatch photos are taken using artificial lights.**

Winter Wonderland

Winter Wonderland is a white iridescent crelly packed with white glitters of all shapes and sizes

Cozy

Cozy is a light brown crème with different colored glitter shards

Top Left: The eyeshadow by Athena & Aphrodite is a very shimmery silver but I decided to spare myself the embarrassment and just swatch it on my forearm. (My knack is polish, I don’t dare dip my toe in the makeup realm for fear of looking like a clown…lol) It went on smooth and is very opaque.

Top Right: The perfume by Athena & Aphrodite smells soooooo good. Its scent is light, refreshing and long lasting. I love that it comes in the cute little roller applicator for quick on-the-go application. I’ll definitely be adding this to my emergency kit that I keep in my car. And by emergency I mean, nail file(s), cotton balls, base coat ūüėČ

Bottom Left: The 2 Peppermint Mini Mani Bombs by Nail Jewelry Bling are amazing. Its scent permeated my entire powder room and living room area. I love that it came with 2 because I was able to share with my girls. They loved the fizz and didn’t want to take their hands out of the water. Our hands felt so smooth, soft and well hydrated after.

Bottom Right: Nail Wraps by Freya Wraps have the cutest reindeer and cloud design, perfect for the season. I was unable to adhere these wraps but I’m a novice when it comes to wraps, decals and vinyls so I’m not the best judge when it comes to their process or application.

What’s in the Box?

  • 2 Nail Polishes
    • Cozy by Gloss Nail Lacquer
    • Winter Wonderland by Nevermind Nail Polish
  • Cosmetic/Makeup
    • Eyeshadow by Athena & Aphrodite
  • Nail Wrap
    • By Freya Wraps
  • 2 Bath Items
    • 2 Mani Bombs by Nail Jewelry Bling
    • Perfume by Athena & Aphrodite

Swatch & Review: Turtle Tootsie – January Birthstone Trio

Swatch & Review: Turtle Tootsie – January Birthstone Trio
***PRESS (PR) SAMPLE***

Happy New Year!!! Here we are at day 2 of 2017 and already I can promise you this week, this month, this year is gearing up to be AH-MAZING!!! I’m so excited and honored to start the year of with a swatch and review from a brand that is sorta, kinda new to the Queendom, Turtle Tootsie. Chrissy and Turtle Tootsie was one of the makers featured in Rachel’s Rainbow Box,¬†you may remember the beautiful pink polish she created for it, if not, you can check out¬†here.¬†

Lucky for you, you’ll be seeing a lot more turtles around here as I’ll be bringing you her monthly birthday trios. So, why don’t we start this party off right and check out January, Garnet and Capricorn.

**All swatches are done using Commitment Issue Peel-off Base Coat by Vapid and Marvel Liquid Macro by Superchic Lacquer (shiny) and Matte Me by Jior Couture (matte). Swatch photos are taken using artificial lights.**

January

January – This is a white crelly with red metallic flakies, matte red hex and gold shimmer

 Garnet

Garnet – This is a dark red/purple linear holo

Capricorn

Capricorn – A holo glitter topper includes red flakies, red hex and gold holo squares

 Overall Thoughts

Formula: Easy to apply and dries semi textured but that’s expected with glitters. Smooths out wonderfully with topcoat. The swatches photo don’t do Garnet any justice, the flame is much more amazing IRL!

Application: No issues. No fishing for glitters…YAY!

Opaqueness: January and Garnet are perfectly opaque in 2 coats. Capricorn builds up nicely over any base color (swatch shown over 2 coats of 79 Light Red by Kleancolor Nail Lacquer.

Price: $25 for the trio in full size, $15 in mini. Singles are $10/$6 respectively

Availability: Releasing January 1st

Overall: I throughly enjoyed this trio and I’m extremely excited for the upcoming months. I think Chrissy did a fantastic job showcasing different finishes on each polish…a little something for everyone!
