Welcome back! Can you believe we are more than 1/2 way through October? This month. This year. It’s going by crazy fast and I can believe I’ve been blogging now for 4 1/2 months now. I think it’s time for a change and what better way than to upcycle my posts? So the reCYCLE, part is that my posts are still going to have the same layout and flow BUT the UPgrade part is that now for all my swatch & reviews (S&R) will be shown with shiny and matte TC AND with nail art!!!! Excited? I am! I’m gonna be combining my love of nail art with the swatches, a win, win in my opinion.

What better post to start then with my S&R of the Southern Hemisphere Collection from Bad Bitch Polish. You may remember the first 1/2 of the fall collection from the S&R of the Northern Hemisphere Collection, if not, you should take a moment to read it as it explains the inspiration behind this collection.

We have 6 polishes to get through, so let’s not delay any longer!

**All swatches are done using Commitment Issue Peel-off Base Coat by Vapid and topped with Quick Dry, High Gloss Top Coat by Pro-FX/ Matte Me Matte Topcoat by Jior Couture. Swatch photos are taken using artificial lights.**

Southern Hemisphere Collection

You’re A Star(ling)

You’re A Star(ling) is a grey-lavender

Continga is a turquoise

 Madagascar Sunset

Madagascar Sunset is a soft orange

The Veldt

The Veldt is a pale green

 Nautica Rose

Nautica Rose is a light rosewood pink

Blue Steel

Blue Steel is a cool, pale blue

There you have it, another 6 beautiful crèmes from BBP. These polishes fit just like the perfect pair of jeans, scratch that, LuLaRoe leggings…lol. They are smooth, creamy and super-easy to work with. I really enjoy working with crèmes because there are so versatile. I love the matte look of all of them and the stamping took them to the next level. Overall, I think, these are gorgeous shades and will totally remind us Northern Hemisphere folks of warm days. I don’t know about you, but here in MD, some days it’s freezing and feels like winter already.

Did any from this collection make you do a double take? Any faves amongst this collection?

The Southern Hemisphere Collection will be releasing Friday, October 21st and will be $9.50/each or $54/set. Minis will be available but in limited quantities for $4.50/each or $25/set.

Swatcher Spotlight: Ann Marie Lipari

Swatcher Spotlight: Ann Marie Lipari

First, the Saints win their very first game over the Chargers on the 2nd and this month alone, I have interviews from 2 Louisiana natives. I really think my trip to the Big Easy is coming sooner than I think, I can just feel it! This months Spotlight is shining bright like a diamond from all the way down in Lafayette, LA on Ann Marie Lipari b.k.a. (better known as) Mani on the Move. I was first introduced to her through the many groups we have in common and all the wonderful swatches and manis I see on her blog and IG.

So, kick your feet up and relax awhile. We have a lot to learn about this young lady, so stay right where you are and check this out.

Name: Ann Marie Lipari
Age 27
Location: Lafayette, LA

Kids? If so, how many?
1 – 7 month old Scottish Terrier that I call my baby. Isn’t she adorable?

Marital Status?
Happily single

Pets? If so, types and how many?
My 7 old Scottish Terrier

Beach or mountains?

Comedy movie or suspense?
Comedy, unless the suspense is something superhero

Last time you laughed out loud?
Today, my baby discover her tail & was chasing it! It was so cute & funny!

Favorite tv show?
The Big Bang Theory & Supergirl

Favorite holiday?

Name one thing you can’t live without?
Cell phone

What got you started doing your nails?
My mom & I used to stay up late on the weekends doing each other’s hair & nails. Once I got older I started experimenting with nail art & different trends. Plus I realized that literally before I would buy anything I would read a blog review, so why not start a blog & tell people about the products I’m using.

What was the first brand you swatched for?
Turtle Tootsie Polishes. I was thrilled when Chrissy asked me to swatch her Black Friday duo!

What is your favorite nail care product?
It’s a tie between Julep Be Strong (formerly Nail Therapy) & Glisten & Glow HK Girl Topcoat.

What kind of camera do you use to take your swatch photos?
It used to be my iPhone 5s but I’ve upgraded my phone so now I use an iPhone 6se.

What tips would you give an aspiring swatcher?
It’s ok to make mistakes, nobody is perfect. And don’t compare yourself to bigger swatchers when you are first starting out, they are started just like you, new to the world of swatching.

How did you come up with your ‘nail name’?
I was originally Manis Makeup & More (for all of 2 days) but I didn’t feel like it was original. After much thought I realized I always had my nails done or was doing them in the car so Mani On The Move was born.

If you were to start an indie line of polish what would you name it and what would the first collection be inspired by?
The collection would be inspired by superheroes but I’m not sure of a name. If there wasn’t a trademark on SuperGirl that would be an awesome indie name!

Who are some other swatchers and/blogs you follow?
Roselynn of Manicured & Marvelous, Kristi of Beginails, Megan of Mindfully Polished, Lisa of Cosmetic Cosmetic Sanctuary, & Lowthen of Manis Mankeup & Nina of Model City Polish are the main ones that I follow.

Thank you so much Ann Marie for hanging out with us today and we look forward to all your upcoming manis!

Forget Me Not: Parrot Polish

Forget Me Not: Parrot Polish

This past weekend was super busy! Saturday, my family and I welcomed a new addition to the family, our sweet beagle, hound mix, Dallas. He’s 11 weeks of pure cuteness and so far he has fit into our family quite well and we really realized he was what we were missing. But like any mom would tell you, children, 2 or 4 legged, will not/can not stop the show.  Luckily, I had the bulk of Mondays post and this one done, I just had to come and add the finishing touches.

I can’t lie and say these are my first because they are not. My first was Black Magic but ended up destashing because honestly, I didn’t appreciate the beauty that is Parrot Polish. That was then and this is now. Since then, I’ve joined the fan group and have been introduced the David and Sonja’s infamous desk sales. These sales are quick and painless. David does a quick video of polishes he has on his desk, you pm him on FB messenger with your order, you pay and within a the blink of an eye, you have beautiful Parrots to play with.

The 3 I have for you today, literally called my name when I saw them as I happened to be scrolling Facebook one day. Actually, they all did but I was able to show some self control and only get these 3.

Cassie is a beautiful, bright, almost neon pink simmer with scattered holo.

Golden Juicy

Golden Juicy is an orange glitter thermal

 Blue By You 3

Blue By You 3 is an amazingly, vibrant, colbalt blue shimmer.

I am so excited for this series, already I’ve been able to swatch/use 8 polishes. That’s 8 beauties that once sat unused and untried, that now have either been swatched on 4 fingers or worn as a full mani.

Overall, I really love these colors. Parrot Polish is quickly growing on my favorites list and I plan to become a stalker of David’s desk sales and the online store. The formulas and application are easy to work with and the colors and finishes are gorgeous.

What Parrots do you own?

Battle of the Topcoat: Vapid vs Love, Angeline

Battle of the Topcoat: Vapid vs Love, Angeline

You may remember a while back I did a post on how my beautiful purple holo polish, Grape Stomp, was disrespected by a well-known topcoat (TC), read about it here. I was so upset that I set out to find a TC that would not only stand up to all my beautiful holos, glitters, crèmes and shimmers, but that is also quick drying, non smearing, budget friendly, readily available and most importantly…indie!

Today I decided to put 2 well-known indie brand TC in the ring to see who was the last polish standing.

(in my best announcer voice)

Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, LETS GET READY TO PPPPOOOOLLLLLIISSSSSSHHHH!

*Ding, Ding! In the right corner, we have High Shine, Quick Dry Topcoat by Vapid! Aaaaaand in the left corner, we have Topped with Love by Love, Angeline.

High Shine, Quick Dry Topcoat                  Topped with Love
by Vapid                                       by Love, Angeline

Here to help us out today are our officials who will keep everyone in line and make sure things don’t get messy. They will also serve as our control group. Let’s meet them (l to r), Twinkle in the Night by Domani Color, Cajun Shrimp by O.P.I. and Kismet by Color Club.

I started with 4 swatch sticks and labeled them with which brand so I wouldn’t confuse myself. 🙂
Originally, I just wanted to see how these topcoats stood up to the challenge of glitters and holos. But then, I decided I wanted to see how quickly they dried, hence the crème swatch.

To each swatch stick I applied 2 even coats of each polish, no base coat (shown above).

Above shows swatches with 1 coat of TC of the designated brand.

Here’s are closer shots of the swatches.

Overall, I have to say this was a close one and honestly…no real winner in my book as they both preformed relatively the same. Of all the TCs I own, these two are both World Polish Champs (WPC) to me. They are amazing contenders who came off the ropes swinging and never gave up.

I like each of them for different reasons:

Shop / Instagram / Facebook Business Page / Facebook Fan Group

  • smoothed glitter and left glass-like finish
  • quick dry time
  • available in 15ml/.5 fl oz square bottle only
  • $6.99
  • thicker consistency but easy to manage
  • Vapids’ wider brush allows  for better application

Love, Angeline

Shop / Instagram / Facebook Business Page / Facebook Fan Group

  • deepen the holo of Kismet
  • quick dry time
  • available in 15ml/.5 fl oz  round bottle or 2on refill bottle
  • $6.50/$24 respectively
  • thinner consistency, may flood the nail if excess is not removed from brush
  • catchy name…Topped with Love

I personally would purchase either or both based on the amazing performance these TCs put forth today. I think the other deciding factors are how they stand up to wear time and nail art.

Do you have a favorite topcoat? If so, why is it you fave?

Forget Me Not: Different Dimensions

Forget Me Not: Different Dimensions

Hello!! So happy to have you back on this Friday morning. Just another 8 hours and I will be saying ‘HELLO’ to my weekend. I love the weekends because I can actually unwind, not think about work and spend quality time with my family…and polish. That’s exactly what I plan to this weekend, go through some of my untried polish pretties and at least swatch them. Having some down time in-between PR S&Rs gives me time to really step back and take a look at my collection and go through them.

I wanted to showcase and journal, so-to-speak, my journey so I decided to start a new series that I’m calling, Forget Me Not, because I want my polish babies to be reminded that they are not forgotten and I will make time for them….lol. Starting this mini series out, is a brand that before recent, I didn’t own any of. I’m talking none, zero, zilch, nada and I literally went from owning none to now having 6 in my collection. I’m talking about, Different Dimensions (DD)! I’m so excited that I now have a small, but powerful and beautiful starting 6! The first was Stargazer which is part of the upcoming AwesomeSauce box, which you can read about here. The other 5, which I have for you today are part collection, part Polish Con, part LE. So you are in for a treat…if I do say so myself.

So without further delay, let’s talk polish! First up I have…

Whatchu Talkin ‘Bout Willis

Whatchu Talkin ‘Bout Willis was the Polish Con LE that a good friend of mine picked up for me. It’s described as a crimson red linear holo with different color flakies.

Lincoln Park, Before Dark

Lincoln Park, Before Dark is a LE still currently available on the DD site. It is described as  a dark plum linear holo with color shifting glitters and ucc flakies.

And All I Loved, I Loved Alone

And All I Loved, I Loved Alone is an orange jelly with holographic microflakies. This one is 1/4 of the POE Collection, still available on the DD site.

…Dream Within A Dream

…Dream Within A Dream is a Halloween full coverage glitterbomb, holographic silver base with added orange and black glitters in different shades and sizes. Again, 1/4 of the POE Collection.

Surfs Up

Surfs Up is a is a white crelly polish with added shimmers, with neon pink, neon yellow and neon blue glitters.

Overall, I’m ecstatic about these 5 polishes and Stargazer and I am super excited to see what my next DD purchase will include. I love the formula, finish, application and coverage with these polishes. I do recommend that you take heed to the suggestion on the DD site, and apply an extra layer topcoat to smooth out glitters. Other than that, no complaints as I plan to be an a vivid customer. For now, do you have any recommendation for a new DD fan? What are some of your favorites?

Challenge Nails: Breast Cancer Awareness

We took some time off from challenges for a while over at Those Nails Though (TNT), but we are back with a vengeance now. This is just in time because I know I have deprived you of challenge Nails for the past few months. Yes, I know Challenge/Inspiration Nails is supposed to be at the end of the month but I loved this mani too much not to share it sooner.

So like I was saying before, TNT had taken an extended break from nail challenges for but  we have started the ball rolling again, with a few minor changes. We no longer have Twin Nails but we still have color and technique challenges AND…..we have added Alphabet Nails and Inspiration/Theme Nail challenges. Challenges run on a 2 week schedule from Sunday to Sunday. The current challenges are:

  • Color: Pink
  • Technique: Double Stamping
  • Inspiration/Theme: Awareness Ribbons
  • Alphabet Nails: Letter A

I thought what better way to celebrate than with a Breast Cancer Awareness mani!

For this mani I used the following:

  •  Perez Pink by Anonymous Lacquer
  • Super Placa B by Apipila
  • BP-L006 by Born Pretty Store
  • White by Munro de Unas (MDU)
  • Metallic Pink by Born Pretty Store
  • Clear Stamper from DRK
  • Topped with Love by Love, Angeline

To start this mani, I applied 2 coats of Perez Pink over my base coat and topped with Topped with Love.

Once that was completely dry, I stamped in white the quatrefoil-esk image from the Super Placa B plate. Then I applied a single metallic pink ribbon in the center. Using the clear stamper, made this mani super easy.

I love this mani and think it turned out great. What do you think? Are there any causes you do a mani to raise awareness for? What are some of your favorite challenges to participate in?

Swatch & Review: Tonic Polish – Halloween Collection and Polish Con LE Duo

Swatch & Review: Tonic Polish – Halloween Collection and Polish Con LE Duo
***PRESS (PR) SAMPLE NOTICE: This post contains polishes that were sent to me for free from the company/brand in exchange for an honest review. All opinions stated are my own and based on my experiences. For additional info regarding PR samples, click here ***

Hello 👋🏾👋🏾👋🏾!! IT’S OCTOBER and you know what that means…..HALLOWEEN 🎃🕸🕷🎃!!! Even better it means Halloween collections and I am so excited to have the Halloween Collection and a couple more surprises from one of my favorite brands…Tonic Nail Polish! Before I show you the polishes, can I just say…again, how bummed I am that I was unable to make it to Polish Con 2016 in Chicago last month. To be in a room surrounded by fellow addicts and makers would have been heaven on earth. Instead, I was stuck in Maryland scrolling and refreshing and scrolling some more through Facebook in hopes to get a glimpse of a live stream, a picture…a morsels of Polish Con. I would have loved to meet the infamous Lindsey Buck…the women who makes my heart melt and my nails beautiful.

However, she must have sensed my despair (kidding) and sent the next best thing, her Halloween Collection AND Polish Con Duo!! The Halloween 2016 Collection includes 8 colors available for pre-order which started yesterday, October 2nd at 2:00pm CST. Polish Con Limited Edition Duo (PCLE), “Polish Con or Bust! 2016” and “Windy City” are also available now. The PCLE will be for sale for one month and then retired. There is a possibility they may make another appearance in the future for Polish Con anniversaries but no guarantees!!

So now that you have been full warned, let’s check out these beauties!

**All swatches are done using Commitment Issue Peel-off Base Coat by Vapid and topped with Quick Dry, High Gloss Top Coat by Pro-FX. Swatch photos are taken using artificial lights.**

Halloween Collection

Spellbound – A grape violet jelly base with a dark blue-violet shimmer that shifts to vivid red at an angle and tiny holo micro glitters.

Silent Storm

Silent Storm – A stormy grey-blue with glowing blue multichrome shimmer that shifts to purple and red-pink.

Bloody Hell

Bloody Hell – Blackened maroon jelly base with sparkly ruby-red shimmer and sprinklings of tiny holo micro glitters, and glowing iridescent blue micro glitters that sparkle out mysteriously in certain lights like eyes glowing out of the darkness.

Ninja Pumpkin

Ninja Pumpkin – Black with metallic orange shimmers and a sprinkle of black holo microliters.

Slitherin’ – A metallic multichrome that shifts from acid-chartreuse to green to turquoise with scattered holo and silver holo micro glitters.

Watcher Woods

Watcher’s Woods – a dark plummy-brown with multichrome shimmer that shifts from silver to vivid green to purple and has silver holo micro glitters. The green shift is most dominant and that is often the resting state of this color.

Poison Rose

Poison Rose – dreary mauve-leaning blush pink with metallic pink shimmers and fine scattered holo. The pink shimmer shifts subtly to golden green at an extreme angle, belying its poisonous nature.

Toxic – Electric purple shimmer with silver holo micro glitters.

Polish Con Limited Edition Colors

Polish Con or Bust! 2016

Polish Con or Bust! 2016 – A raspberry jelly base with glowing royal blue multi chrome shimmer that shifts to vivid orangey-red at an angle and holo micro glitters.

Windy City

Windy City – A medium royal blue base with intense pink shimmer, pink/gold/green shifting flakes, and silver holo micro glitters.

WOWZA! 10 new polishes currently available from Tonic Nail Polish! Overall, this collection is gorgeous and the formula and application are exactly what you expect from Tonic. If you are new to Tonic, this is a great first collection to own. All 10 shades are phenomenal, you can definitely tell that Lindsey takes her time to perfect every color and finish. If you too are a fan, then you’ll want to be sure to have these in your collection. All of these polishes are opaque in 2-3 coats depending on preference and style of application (swatches show in 2 coats) and top coat is strongly recommended for maximum shine and color impact.

So, again, these polishes are available RIGHT NOW on Tonic’s website for only $84 for the entire Halloween Collection…that’s $1 off each bottle individually priced at $10-$12. The PCLEs are $12 for Windy City and $13 for Polish Con or Bust! 2016

While I love them all, I’m sure I don’t have to tell you which are my favorites. Bloody Hell and Ninja Pumpkin! I got to know which have you already purchased or are you planning to purchase?

*Please note, orders will start shipping within 2 weeks of purchase. After the first 2-week pre-order period the Halloween Collection will go off pre-order status and be available with my normal TAT. No current plans to limit availability of these colors. If at any time they are discontinued, it will be announced in the Tonic Facebook group and on Instagram.*
